FAQ
Straight answers.
Including the ones that cost a sale but keep the trust.
Which Code edition is this built to?
The 2023 NEC (NFPA 70), exclusively. Every citation, table reference, and calculation follows the 2023 edition. If your jurisdiction tests on a different cycle, check its bulletin before you buy.
Will this work for my state?
The content is national-scope NEC. The exam’s structure is modeled on the Texas TDLR/PSI format and cross-checked against the ICC national standard, which many states use. Your state’s exam bulletin is the final word on format, time, and pass score — read it; it’s free and it matters.
Is the NEC included?
No — and be wary of anyone who says yes. The Code is NFPA’s copyrighted work. We paraphrase and cite by article and section, and train you to navigate your own codebook, which is exactly the skill the open-book exam tests.
What’s the pass mark in the reader?
75%. Most jurisdictions pass at around 70%. We hold you to more on purpose — train above the line so the line takes care of itself.
Can I retake the practice exam?
As many times as you like within your access window. Answer choices shuffle on every attempt, so repeat runs test knowledge, not memory of positions.
How long do I have access?
60 days for the Manual or the Exam, 90 days for the Bundle. The window isn’t a meter — it’s a freshness guarantee that what you study is current to the exam you’ll sit.
Does this cover business and law?
Not yet — by choice. Some states add a business & law exam, and a dedicated module is on the roadmap. This program is pure NEC, which keeps it sharp and portable across states.
What do I need to use it?
A browser. The reader is a clean, modern web experience that works on desktop, laptop, or tablet. The manual is built for serious reading — print or screen.
What if I fail my exam?
Then you get back up, and we’ll be here. No prep program can honestly promise a pass — anyone who does is selling you something. What we promise is verified material, an honest bar, and a topic report that shows exactly where to spend your next two weeks.
